Pink Shirt Day
is a Canadian anti-bullying initiative that originated in 2007 when two students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, from Nova Scotia took a stand against bullying by wearing pink shirts after a fellow student was bullied for wearing one. Since then, Pink Shirt Day has become an annual event observed on the last Wednesday of February.
The day aims to raise awareness about bullying and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusivity in schools, workplaces, and communities.
Participants wear pink shirts to symbolize their commitment to standing up against bullying and spreading kindness.
The importance of Pink Shirt Day lies in its role in fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and support, ultimately creating safer and more inclusive environments for everyone.
This 2024 the date lands on Wednesday February 28th. Please wear pink to help promote anti-bullying and continue to support this initiative, this includes sharing thoughts experiences and practices that align with the initiative.
We wish you all the best this #PinkShirtDay
